50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

- DVD $5.00 - 'History of Harrington Street Public School'- (A comprehensive 70 minute 'History of the School' from 1962 to 2012, including scanned documents, reports, class and staff photos from each decade, school events through the years and interviews by Year 6 students with students, staff, parents and community members from various decades.)
Celebrations for the Anniversary took place from 11th to 15th September, 2012.
- 11th September
Visitors were welcome to attend cultural Diversity and NAIDOC activities before going to 'Open Classrooms' to see students at work..
- 12th September
Student representatives from each grade, community members and invited guests attended the Official 50th Anniversary Assembly in the school hall. This was relayed via video link to classrooms for all students to see on their Electonic Whiteboards). Invited guests later viewed the Archive Exhibition in the School Library.
- 15th September 2012 - Saturday during the day.
The school was open to visitors from 10am to 2pm. Activities included: 50th Celebration Displays in each classroom, Guided School Tours, Archive Exhibition in the School Library, the sale of mugs, DVD's and keyrings and a sausage sizzle run by the Year 6 students.
- 15th September 2012 - Evening at the Cabravale Ex-Active Servicemen's Club from 6pm - 11pm.
Tickets were sold to this night of memories. A large number of current teaching and non-teaching staff as well as parents, community members, ex-students and ex-staff from 1960's to 2010's attended, many travelling from their homes in country areas of NSW, interstate and even from overseas. Finger Food, tea and coffee were served and drinks were available at the bar. The band 'Touchwood' performed music to set the scene. Everyone was able to see how the school began and has grown by viewing from the archived official class and school photos and documents displays. A short video from the DVD presentation 'History of Harrington Street Public School' was also shown.
