On the 26th of August, the Harrington Street girls basketball team played the 5th round of the State knockout against Bangor Public School.
It was a pleasure to be able to play at the Whitlam Centre with a professional referee officiating the game.
The team we were up against were one of the toughest teams we had ever versed because of their strengths in shooting, structure and height.
We tied with them after the first quarter but after that we lost 25-8 unfortunately.
This was the girls last game of basketball as a team, however we enjoyed the opportunity given and we were glad the teachers were there to support us.
On the 26th of August we went to the Whitlam Centre to face off against Bangor PS. It was our first game on a proper indoor court so we were excited.
During the game we were tied up at 4-4 but we slipped behind at the end of the first quarter 10-4. It was only a 6 point difference. We still had a chance.
During the second quarter, we scored 4 points and they scored 4, so we were 14-8 at halftime.
They were very energetic and played a strategy to trap the ball at halfway. We were tired and couldn’t keep up, resulting in a 31-14 loss.
We played hard to get to the 5th round of the knockout and we are proud that we beat so many teams to get here.
