Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

PDHPE is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

Sport

Primary schools sport association (PSSA)

Students have the opportunity to represent Harrington Street in the Horsley Zone summer and winter PSSA sports competitions. Sports include:

Summer: Cricket, softball (seniors), teeball (juniors), AFL (girls)

Winter: AFL (boys), basketball, netball, rugby league, soccer

School sport

Students participate in weekly sports activities as a class or stage. During this time they develop fundamental movement skills, fitness, or games and sports strategies.

Additional sporting opportunities

Students are also able to participate in a range of additional sports throughout the year, including:

  • the swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals
  • gymnastics and Footsteps dance
  • Premier’s Sporting Challenge
  • NRL Backyard League program
  • representing the Horsley Zone, South West Sydney Region or NSW in a range of sports

3-6 Athletics Carnival

Our Annual 3-6 Athletics Carnival was held on the 29th of July at Dwyer Oval in Warwick Farm. Students in Years 3-6 participated in 100 m and 200 m races, as well as high jump, long jump, shotput and discus. Nalkari scored the most points and were the winners of…

Buddies – 1J and K6G

1J & K/6G enjoy spending time together during Buddies. We are learning to make new friends and participate in social interactions by completing fun activities like painting and playing board games.
